The Town of Yarmouth is searching for an Economic Development ProgramManager to join our team.
Working under the general direction of theAssistant Town Administrator, the Economic Development Program Managerperforms high level professional, and technical planning tasks requiringsignificant independent judgement in formulating and recommendingeconomic development plans, strategies and vision for the Town?seconomic development program, including the recruitment, growth andretention of local businesses.

Provides critical staff leadership inimplementing and carrying out the economic vision of the Town in workingwith diverse independent individuals, groups and agencies.
Responsiblefor grant writing and administration to support program implementationand to stimulate business and infrastructure development.
Serves as thekey spokesperson for economic development efforts.
Requires a highdegree of independent, varied and complex work requiring a thoroughknowledge of a wide range of statutes and regulations relating toeconomic development, business finance, planning and land useregulation.
Independently exercises judgement and initiative in carryingout functions of critical importance addressing priority community needsand in responding to inquiries in situations not clearly defined byprecedent or established procedures.
Errors could result in seriousdelay or loss of services, poor public relations, degradation of theeconomic integrity of the community, legal ramifications, andsignificant monetary loss to the town.
Performs similar or related workas required or as situation dictates.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in public administration, economics,urban or regional planning, or related field; Master?s degree preferred.
Minimum three years planning or economic development experience at thelocal, regional or state level; combination of private and public sectorexperience desirable; or any equivalent combination of education andexperience.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skill:
Knowledge:
General knowledgeof:
Economic development principles applicable to local government;Principles and practices of land use planning public; commercial realestate and office administration.
Through on the job learning, developsthorough knowledge of local government practices related to economicdevelopment and of land use planning and permitting regulationsapplicable to Yarmouth.
Ability:
Ability to work independently and tocommunicate effectively in oral, graphic and written form.
Ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers,board/committee members, public sector officials, the businesscommunity, community groups, and the general public.
Skill:
Superiorcommunication skills, both oral and written.
Good analytical andorganizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability tomaintain strong working relationships with patrons and staff.
PhysicalRequirements Minimal physical effort is generally required for workperformed in the office.
Light to moderate physical effort isoccasionally required in the performance of field investigations.
Occasionally required to walk and stand for extended periods of timeduring field investigations.
Site inspections require the generalability to identify and distinguish colors, peripherals, and distances.
Ability to speak, hear, read and operate a keyboard.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
